StudentUniverse.com provides travel resources, online
ticketing and services for todays
college student.
Objective:
The company implemented a sweepstakes, which would
target college students with
the possibility of winning roundtrip airfare and other
prizes. The goal of the sweepstakes
was to provide StudentUniverse.com with vital information
on its users through an opt-in
form that would collect personal data about the users,
and increase subscriptions to the
company's e-mail newsletter.
StudentUniverse.com wanted to promote its sweepstakes
program by targeting ads to college students, ages
18 to 26, on sites across the Web. However, the company
did not want to rely on simply placing ads on random
sites that students may visit. In order to maximize
the effectiveness and value of their campaign, they
needed a solution, which would help get the attention
of this very targeted audience and eliminate a lot
of the guesswork as to what sites they may be visiting.
Solution:
StudentUniverse.com chose Engage Media Audience Profiling
to help identify audiences and target them across
the Web. The solution was implemented in the spring
of this year, and in just a few short months, the
results have been impressive.
Results:
Click-through rates on ads placed using Engage Media's
Audience Profiling averaged close to .7% higher than
any other solution the company used to target its

86% of the people who registered for the sweepstakes
were college students within StudentUniverse's.com's
target audience group, displaying that Audience Profiling

that StudentUniverse.com was seeking. To date, over
4,000 people have registered for the sweepstakes,
65% of which have opted-in to future mailings distributed
by the site. Nearly 1,400 people have requested the
StudentUniverse.com newsletter, growing the company's
direct e-mail database to 5,060.
